I design and produce hand-made ceramic items in porcelain, stoneware and earthenware clay, mostly slip cast.
Commissions
I accept commissions for new designs and can customise my work to your needs. I give discounts on sizeable orders and would be pleased to discuss any aspect of design for you. I am enthusiastic about unusual designs and believe I can produce pretty well anything so do get in touch if there is something specific you require.
My Practice
Slip casting is the process whereby a plaster model is made by hand or made on a ceramic lathe. A mould is made from the model, it might be a one piece mould or a multi part mould depending on the complexity of a piece. The mould is then dried. The piece can then be replicated time and time again by pouring liquid clay (slip) in to the mould producing a replica of the model.
Glazing and Firing
I enjoy experimenting with glazes and firings as you will see by the variety in my work. For my kitchenware I use transparent glazes with decal transfers or lustres. I also fire in raku kilns and in sawdust firings.
My Ethos
All my work is designed and hand-made in England in a little workshop at the bottom of my garden.
I am a designer who has experimented and produced a number of different styles and regularly produce commissions for clients. All my pieces are original in their design, they are bespoke, beautifully hand crafted and created with passion and enthusiasm.
