Personal Statement

I produce items that reflect my personality and arouse emotions, through shock or humour.

I work mainly with porcelain and stoneware and particularly enjoy slip casting. I love working with porcelain and, because of its translucency, produce some exciting and unusual lighting, of particular note is my lovebead chandelier.

Light to me is without doubt the most important thing in the world, after all, when we are born we come from the dark in to the light and when we die we return to the darkness from which we came. Light enhances our mood and our attitude towards life. Light is like a person, it can be bright and vibrant but can also be extinguished with a flick of a switch. Light is energy.

Recently I have been working with stoneware to produce more functional pieces for clients. All my pieces highlight my belief in promoting the beauty of an object, expertly designed and hand-made with finely sculpted lines and curves.

For many years I lived in Cornwall where I studied ceramics. The ocean has an appeal not easily expressed in words, the physical power the sea has and the secret world underneath full of strange and beautiful life.
