Press Release - July 2020
“The original and the best purveyor of the finest, dirtiest and prettiest handmade china, serving celebrities all over the world’”
Pop diva Lady Gaga caused quite a stir by releasing a photo on her Twitter page; seemingly topless, and seductively clutching an elegant floral tea cup with the word 'whore' discretely painted on it.
The tea cup and saucer are the work of Katie Roberton, a British ceramic artist and designer who runs Outlandish Creations from her London home. The cup in question was just one piece from a collection designed and produced by Katie for the famous tea drinker.
Other celebrity customers include: Dougie from McFly, Joanna Lumley, DJ Fat Tony, Susannah Constantine, Mr & Mrs Timberlake, Ruby Wax, Graham Norton, and Lydia Bright.
Outlandish Creations works with porcelain, bone china and stoneware to create risqué pieces which are making people sit up and take notice. In addition to the traditional tea cup and saucer collections, ceramics include a love-bead inspired chandelier, salt and pepper 'cockshakers' and a porcelain riding crop. Each piece is designed, hand crafted and made by Outlandish Creations in London; bespoke personalised hand-made items can also be commissioned.
Katie, the inspiration behind Outlandish Creations comments: 'I enjoy making work that is beautifully crafted, delicate, luxurious, feminine and provocative. I have been making dainty but saucy tea cups for a number of years; it is only recently that there has been a resurgence in the afternoon tea and cake culture that makes tea such a divine part of being British. All our raw materials are sourced in Britain which allows us to support UK businesses; I believe this is important in today's society.'
